Testimonials

Industry developers

"[The Dev Therapist] has been one of the most impactful people in my career development. They led me to a coding bootcamp, helped me navigate sticky situations at my old job, and put me in touch with the recruiter who got me my current six-figure job! When I have questions, problems, or concerns, I reach out to them first."

"There were so many days where I felt so lost and overwhelmed by the amount of technical knowledge I had to keep up with. The Dev Therapist was always there to uplift my morale with positive words of wisdom like "the best time to refactor was yesterday, the second best time is now." Or "Amazon wasn't built in a day." Every time after I go seek his counsel, I feel a surge of energy and a mindset that gives me strength to code once again."

New developers

"A friend recommended The Dev Therapist to me after contemplating for the longest time that I wanted to leave bedside nursing after COVID. Dev Therapist has been a tremendous help to me to kick-start my coding career. They've provided me feedback on how to efficiently study and re-wire my brain to understand and write code. They've also provided me resources that were free, so I didn't have to spend a dime. They also was very timely with communication that when I encountered a code I was uncertain about, they answered right away.""As a mentor, Dev Therapist has been empathetic and understanding about the struggles of working full time and learning to code. They came with a roadmap that made the transition to this new field possible. Thank you!"

Case studies

Mike A., software engineer at a Fortune 100 company

In 2019, Mike was working as an unarmed security guard for $11/hour. He had a bachelors degree in creative writing, but the only job prospects available to him required him to uproot and move halfway across the world. Disappointed in the direction of his career, Mike reached out to our mentors and researched careers in software development.Mike knew that he needed to get out of his current path and that he wanted to become a software engineer, but he had no clue what to do from there. Mike joined a coding bootcamp, and then we helped him figure out how to support himself during the bootcamp, and watched him reach the top of his bootcamp class.Mike eventually got hired on at the bootcamp as a program facilitator. He excelled at his job and he was making a real impact on students’ well being as he continued to drill the fundamentals for his own knowledge. As a program facilitator, Mike continued to reach out to us whenever he ran into sticky situations, and with our guidance, he survived and thrived in the hectic work environment.Eventually, the job burdened Mike with too much work, and he became the classic underpaid overachiever. At that point, Mike decided he had to get a software development job. He started applying for jobs, but employers were quick to pass on him due to his “unconventional experience”. We tailored his resume to fit enterprise work, put him in touch with first-rate recruiters, and eventually he landed multiple six-figure offers.Mike is now happily employed at a Fortune 100 company with the flexibility and learning experience he wants, and he’s on a trajectory to become a senior software engineer soon, with just two and a half years of post-bootcamp experience.
